Shaikh Ibn Baaz on Mentioning Names when Criticising

Filed under: General at 5:20 pm (no comments)

ban_fatwaislam.gif

Question to Shaikhul-Islaam Ibn Baaz, rahimahullaah:

Is it permissible to mention peoples’ names and characters when one wants to criticize them and their thinking?

Answer:

If someone writes something that contradicts the pure Shari’ah, and distributes that material, or if he promulgates that view in the media, it becomes compulsory to refute him and expose the falsehood of what he says. There is nothing wrong in mentioning that person’s name or in warning people about him if he calls to innovation, Shirk, or if he calls people to what Allaah has prohibited or to disobedience. Until this day, there are knowledgeable and believing people from the callers to the truth and bearers of the Shari’ah fulfilling this obligation, sincerely for Allaah Almighty and for the benefit of His servants, rebuking the wrong, inviting to the truth, warning others against those who propagate falsehood and destructive rhetoric.

Ikhwaani Salmaan Al-Awdah In London Last Year!

Filed under: General at 8:14 am (no comments)

Salmaan Al-Awdah; One of the Heads of the Callers to Revolution and Deviation was at the Islam Channel London Conference last year, 2006.

This revolutionary, was exposed and warned against by the Major Salafi Scholars, so why do we find Yasir Qadhi promoting him and translating for him in front of thousands and broadcasting the video to thousands more?! This is just another example of his shallow understanding of the Sunnah, and another example of his alignment with the people of misguidance. Is there any greater actualisation of the following narrations:

Allaah’s Messenger, salallaahu alaihi wassallam, said:

“A person is upon the deen of his friend, so let each one of you look at whom he befriends.”

Saheeh. Refer to Silsilah as-Saheehah of al-Albaani (no.927)

Ibn Mas’ood - radiallaahu anhu - said,

“Indeed a person walks alongside and accompanies the one whom he loves and who is like him.”

Al-Ibaanah (2/476)

Shaikh Ibnul-’Uthaimeen, rahimahullaah, answered some questions regarding Salmaan Al-Awdah and Safar Al-Hawaalee:

Questioner: “Also, they [the youth] listen to the cassettes of Salmaan bin Fahd al-Awdah, and Safar al-Hawaali!! Do we advise them to not listen to them?!!”

Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen: “May Allaah bless you. The good that is in their cassettes is also found in other than their cassettes, and their cassettes have some critical observations against them, some of their cassettes, not all of them. And I am not able to distinguish between them for you - I (am not able) - between this and that!!

Questioner: In that case you advise us not to listen to them?

Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen: “No (do not listen to them). I advise you to listen to the cassettes of Shaikh ibn baaz, the cassettes of Shaikh al-albaani, the cassettes of the scholars who are known for uprightness and integrity (i’tidaal), AND WHO ARE NOT KNOWN FOR REVOLUTIONARY IDEOLOGY (THAWRAH FIKRIYYAH)”!!

Questions put to Shaikh Muhammad Naasirudden al-Albaanee:

And Shaikh al-Albaanee said:

“… I will now give you an example from our Salafee brothers, I, like you, state definitely that he is not Ikhwaanee, but his manhaj is Ikhwaanee, and he is a Salafee, and I do no think except that you know him well - and he is ‘Abdur-Rahmaan ‘Abdul-Khaaliq. You know him?”

[A] “Yes.”

[Shaikh] “Fine. He was a student of mine in the Islamic University, and in those days he was an Ikhwaanee, and, if the terminology can be used ‘turned to a Salafee’ there, and he was one of the best of the youth who were attentive to the lessons and what was taught etc. I say the like of you with regard to Salmaan, he is not Ikhwaanee, but his manhaj is the manhaj of the Ikhwaanul-Muslimeen. How is that?

Firstly, he organised a group, a partisan-organisation, do you know this? ‘Abdur-Rahmaan. This partisan organisation, this formation of a group is not upon the Salafee manhaj that we call to. Is that not the case? Then if Salmaan [al-Awdah], who we are speaking about at the moment and at other times, IF we say that he is not Ikhwaanee, and are speaking truly, then that does not extract him from being Ikhwaanee in his manhaj. This is where one should beware, that he is not Ikhwaanee (meaning: he does not have membership of the group itself), yet his manhaj is the manhaj of the Ikhwaanul-Muslimeen.

So I ask you now, do you see that he gathers the people into a group/organisation, he gathers the youth into a group/organisation, and he incites their emotions upon the like of what the Ikhwaanul-Muslimoon incite them upon, their helpers and their followers etc. I said in the previous lesson, the manhaj of the Ikhwaan is: ‘Gather the people into an organisation, then instruct them - then nothing.’ There is nothing except blind-gathering of people into an organisation, without any teaching. The proof is that close to a century has come upon the Ikhwaanul-Muslimeen, in their different lands, and they are, in military terms, in a situation of having made no gains. Why? Because this is what their manhaj brings about. They do not advance; not in knowledge, nor in ‘aqeedah, nor in behaviour, they are just as they were, completely.

It is not possible for you to find brothers from the Ikhwaanul-Muslimeen following the manhaj of the Sunnah, outwardly at least, you find one of them imitating Hasan al-Bannaa, shortening his beard, and making it - like some of the scholars of the Hanafees say in the books of the Hanafees - like the foreigners or the westerners do. So they persist in following the example of Hasan al-Bannaa, and it does not cross their mind to follow the example of the noblest of the Messengers (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa-sallam).

So now, is there something of this group organisation and this gathering of the youth? This was happening in Kuwait before that which occurred with them. So ‘Abdur-Rahmaan and those around him were preoccupied away from cultivating and educating and training (tarbiyah) them upon Islaam - because of this partisanship and group organisation. And this is one of the effects of blind-hizbiyyah,”

Shaikh Al-Albaanee, rahimahullaah, also said:

“They have opposed the Salaf in much of the issues of manhaj, and it is befitting that I label them the Khawarij of the era. And this resembles their emergence at the current time – in which we read their statements – because they, in reality, their words take the direction and objective of that of the Khawarij in performing takfir of the one who commits major sins. And perhaps I should say, this is either due to ignorance on their behalf or due to devised plot!!

Islam - The Religion of all Prophets (Da’wah Site)

Filed under: General at 10:04 pm (no comments)

Islam - The Religion of all Prophets
Welcome to Islaam.ca, an exciting and new Islamic information site created for the purpose of spreading true, authentic introductory information about Islam, devoid of misinterpretation and bias. The focus of islaam.ca is centered upon the main sources of Islamic text (the Noble Qur’an and the Sunnah - statements, actions and tacit approvals of the Prophet Muhammad, may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace) with commentary from some of the most prestigous Islamic scholars, past and present.

islaam.caIslaam.ca is unique in comparison to many Islamic information sites due to its focus on ‘tawheed’ (monotheism) and making it our primary concern to call towards this. It is our goal to present ‘you’ the reader with authentic information about Islam and to allow you to come to an understanding of ‘true Islam’ and to come to an agreement, that the One Sole Creator, the Lord and God of all creation is to be singled out in worship and this in reality is the religion of all Prophets and Messengers.

Say (O Muhammad - may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace): “This is my way; I invite unto Allah (i.e. to the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) with sure knowledge, I and whosoever follows me (also must invite others to Allah) with sure knowledge. And Glorified and Exalted be Allah (above all that they associate as partners with Him). And I am not of the Mushrikoon (polytheists, pagans, idolaters and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah; those who worship others along with Allah or set up rivals or partners to Allah).” (Qur’an, Yusuf [Joseph], 12:108)

Islaam.ca features:

  • An easy to navigate interface collecting articles, audio, essays, news items and more
  • A forum for discussion about Islam, Muslims, Islam in the News, Reverts to Islam etc.
  • Articles from Islamic scholars from the middle ages to reverted Muslims of today
  • Audio lectures and speeches clarifying and inviting to Islam from around the world
  • Radio broadcasts of Islamic Information shows
  • Testimonials - ‘Why I became a Muslim’ from revert (convert) Muslims.
  • Downloads - printable pamphlets, flash presentations, background images…
  • FAQ - A variety of short Q&A about Islam
  • Islaam.ca community - accessible accounts that grant forum access, post tracking, favourites list, peer connections and more
  • A strong ’search and filter’ engine to make it easy to find what you need on Islam

Some of the Highlights from the site’s first year:

Interviews with Converts -

Mutah Beale (former rapper- Napoleon of Outlawz) talks to Islaam.ca about his Conversion

An interesting interview with a former rapper who became inspired to learn about his Muslim roots. After following in the footsteps of Malcolm X and making the Hajj, he began to learn about the essence of Islam (tawheed - the oneness of Allaah) and decided to leave a fast lifestyle of music, intoxicants and vice for the simplicity of Islam. Why you may ask? We invite you to listen and find out…

Sherman (Jaffar) Whittenburg - Ex-Model and Actor Speaks to islaam.ca on His Conversion to Islam

Sherman Whittenburg is a former model and actor who modelled for magazines such as ‘GQ’ and ‘The Source’ and had acting spots in ‘All My Children’ and TV commercials. A former College basketball player from New York, Whittenburg turned to modelling and acting after sustaining an injury. After enjoying some quick success as a model and actor, Allah opened his heart to Islam. Sherman shares his unique and beautiful journey to Islam with islaam.ca - an inspiring story of hard-times in Brooklyn, New York to almost overnight stardom in modelling/acting to his eventual journey to Islam in which he left behind a world of opportunity and wealth for the simplicity of worshipping the one, sole creator, the religion of Islam.

Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided. (Qur’an, 16:125)

Islam and Terrorism

Salafis, Their Scholars and Terrorism?

An important clarification and analysis of the facts surrounding the ’salafi da’wah’, its scholars and its message, a necessary clarification to the non-Muslim audience about a clear-cut issue which is lied about time and time again, as those who hate this blessed da’wah are ever-opportunistic in using a media platform to attack  salafiyyah and its scholars - attaching them to every vice they can. A series of posts detailing statements of the salafi scholars dating back to the 1980’s concerning terrorism, the Islamic ruling on it and warning against Bin Laden and the like.

Islam’s War on Terror - Toronto Seminar

- Islaam’s War on Terror - The Khawaarij: A Legacy of Evil & The Hallmarks of Ahlus-Sunnah “An Enlightening Exposé on the theology and callers of the khawaarij (renegade terrorists) in our time, in contrast to the hallmarks of the People of the Sunnah and the Correct & Pure Islamic Methodology”  See also: Islam’s War on Terror - A Clarification to the Media

A ‘Crystal-Clear’ explanation of the stance of the Pure and clear Islam (Following the Qur’an, the Sunnah (way) of Muhammad, May Allaah Raise His Rank and Grant Him Peace upon the understanding of the Prophet’s Companions and those scholars who inherited knowledge from them),  A clarification of the ‘Salafees’, in regards to Terrorism and the methods of terror: suicide bombings, declaring Muslim states to be apostate, declaring the lives and wealth of non-Muslims to be worthless and open to murder and other sources of evil. An important lecture which reflects on the position of the Salafee scholars throughout the ages against these criminal-minded individuals and their modern-day movements. A stark contrast to some of the misinformation in the media in recent years, linking these extremist factions to ‘Salafiyyah’ (or as on off-shot, instead of making the documented connection between the extremist groups and their 20th century mentors such as Sayyid Qutb, Maududi, al-Banna and their theologies who paved the way for others who even considered salafee scholars as apostates!). In truth, some writers have tried to base their research on factual statements coming to the determination that ‘radicalism’ is an agenda foreign to traditional Islamic values; imported to Islam and the Muslims, making the real distinction between orthodox Islam and the extremists, whilst many have penned wild opinions without founding which have misled many (especially from the Muslim writers themselves). For those who wish to explore the facts and contrast the evidence, this lecture will make the affair quite clear.

Are you ready to learn more about ‘real Islam’?

Islam is a religion and way of life for all people from whatever race or background they might be. It is not a new religion. It is in essence the same message and guidance, which Allah revealed to all His previous Messengers through Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and finally Muhammad. It is a religion and way of life that guides its followers in all aspects of life.

Allaah says in the Noble Qur’an:

“The Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you mates from yourselves, and for the cattle (also) mates. By this means He creates you (in the wombs). There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the All-Hearer, The All-Seer. To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth, He enlarges provision for whom He wills, and straitens (it for whom He wills). Verily! He is the All-Knower of everything. He (Allaah) has ordained for you the same religion (Islam) which He ordained for Noah, and that which We have inspired in you (O Muhammad), and that which We ordained for Abraham, Moses and Jesus saying you should establish religion, and make no divisions in it. Intolerable for the (disbeliveers in the Oneness of Allaah, pagans, idolaters and polytheists), is that to which you (O Muhammad) call them. Allaah chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides unto Himself who turns to Him in repentance and in obedience.” (Qur’an 42:11-13)

We warmly welcome you to islaam.ca, we pray that it is of tremendous benefit towards clarifying the reality of Islam and a source of knowledge and contemplation for you, the reader. We would love to hear from you with your feedback, questions or suggestions, you may reach us via our contacts section.

What are News Feeds?
News feeds allow you to see when websites have added new content. You can get the latest headlines and video in one place, as soon as its published, without having to visit the website.

Feeds are also known as RSS. There is some discussion as to what RSS stands for, but most people plump for ‘Really Simple Syndication’.

How do I start using feeds on my PC?

desktop.gif
In general, the first thing you need is something called a news reader. This is a piece of software that checks the feeds and lets you read any new articles that have been added. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications.

If you go to the address bar in you browser if you use ‘Mozilla Firefox’ you should see the orange RSS icon, click on it and save it in your bookmarks. In ‘Microsoft Explorer 7′ just go to www.Salaf.com and click on RSS 2.0 in links on the right hand side and a new window will open, then just click on ‘Subscribe to feed’.
More info.:

If you click on the RSS button you can subscribe to the feed in various ways, including by dragging the URL of the feed into your news reader or by cutting and pasting the same URL into a new feed in your news reader. Most sites that offer feeds use a similar orange button, but some may just have a normal web link. The actual link to the feed is http://salaf.com/feed/
Some browsers, including Firefox, Opera and Safari, automatically check for feeds for you when you visit a website, and display an icon when they find one. This can make subscribing to feeds much easier. For more details on these, please check their websites.

How do I get a news reader?
There is a range of different news readers available and new versions are appearing all the time.

Different news readers work on different operating systems, so you will need to choose one that will work with your computer.

Windows
Newz Crawler
FeedDemon
Awasu
Mac OS X

Co-Existing In Non-Muslim Societies

Filed under: Terrorism and Contemporary Issues at 5:33 am (no comments)

SHAIKH IBN AL-UTHAIMEEN ADVISES MUSLIMS HOW TO LIVE AMONGST NON-MUSLIMS IN THE WEST…

This advice was possibly the last this noble Scholar gave to Muslims in the West before he passed away - in a tele-link with Salafi Publications in July 2000. Note that this advice came before the September 11th 2001 attacks in New York, before the Madrid train bombs and before the July 7th 2005 tube bombings in London. So the advice is not driven by a desire to rectify in hindsight, but a sincere and truthful desire to guide and advise the Muslims in the West on how to co-exist in the correct legislated manner.
The esteemed and late Shaikh Muhammad bin Salih al-’Uthaimin of Saudi Arabia stated, during a tele-link in the evening of Friday, 28th July 2000:

“…Likewise I invite you to have respect for those people who have the right that they should be respected, those between whom there is an agreement (of protection) for you. For the land in which you are living is such that there is an agreement between you and them. If this were not the case they would have killed you or expelled you. So preserve this agreement, and do not prove treacherous to it, since treachery is a sign of the hypocrites, and it is not from the way of the Believers. And know that it is authentically reported from the Prophet that he said, “Whoever kills one who is under and agreement of protection will not smell the fragrance of Paradise.”

Do not be fooled by those sayings of the foolish people, those who say ‘Those people are Non-Muslims, so their wealth is lawful for us (to misappropriate or take by way of murder and killing).’ For by Allaah - this is a lie. A lie about Allaah’s Religion, and a lie about Islamic societies.

So we may not say that it is lawful to be treacherous towards people whom we have an agreement with.

O my brothers. O youth. O Muslims. Be truthful in your buying and selling, and renting, and leasing, and in all mutual transactions. Because truthfulness is from the characteristics of the Believers, and Allaah - the Most High - has commanded truthfulness - in the saying of Allaah - the Most High -

“O you who believe - fear and keep you duty to Allaah and be with the truthful”

And the Prophet encouraged truthfulness and said, “Adhere to truthfulness, because truthfulness leads to goodness, and goodness leads to Paradise; and a person will continue to be truthful, and strive to be truthful until he will be written down with Allaah as a truthful person“.

And he warned against falsehood, and said, “Beware of falsehood, because falsehood leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire. And a person will continue lying, and striving to lie until he is written down with Allaah as a great liar.”

O my brother Muslims. O youth. Be true in your sayings with your brothers, and with those Non-Muslims whom you live along with - so that you will be inviters to the Religion of Islaam, by your actions and in reality. So how many people there are who first entered into Islaam because of the behaviour and manners of the Muslims, and their truthfulness, and their being true in their dealings.”

So this is the way of the Wise Legislation, that guides the Muslims. This is the way of the Salafi Scholars, the scholars who possess wisdom and guide to the Prophetic way.
