Maintaining the Straight Path

Filed under: General and MP3 FREE Downloads at 6:02 pm (no comments)

ImageBy Shaykh Muhammad al-Anjaree

An introductory advice concerning sticking to the correct manhaj. Shaykh Muhammad explains some of the core foundations of the Islamic methodology. A tele-link with Shaykh Muhammad al-Anjaree from the Apr. ‘07 Seminar ‘Islam in our Times’ in Toronto, Canada. A good lecture for the person who is new to the Sunnah or new to issues of Manhaj and would like to understand some basic principles.

From the benefits discussed:

  • Understanding Islam based upon the Qur’an, Sunnah and the understanding of the salafus-saalih
  • Answering the claim: we follow the Qur’an, the Sunnah and ‘Ijmaa (what’s agreed upon)
  • Answering the claim: we need to form a new jama’ah (group) or organised movement in order to establish an Islamic state
  • The Fitnah (problem) of the common Muslims (or common speakers) making takfeer (declaring Muslims to be apostates)
  • The importance of the Muslim youth clinging to the major scholars of Islaam towards understanding their deen and taking their positions View this Item

Should a Muslim Follow One of the Four Madhaahib?

Filed under: General and Articles FREE Downloads at 3:31 pm (no comments)

ImageBy Shaykh Mashhoor Hasan Salmaan
A reply to the question: Do you advise a Muslim to follow one of the four madhaahib, using it as a source reference whenever there are conflicting opinions? Does following a madh-hab lead to success? And should a Muslim follow the opinion of other scholars as found in the books (of fiqh) that mentions the various opinions (of the different madhaahib)?

Thus, whoever calls to following one imaam to the exclusion of the others, and obligates the ummah to follow that particular scholar - from amongst the four Imaams or those before or after them - then this person is misguided, sinful, and innovative. We are not Bakrees, ‘Umarees, ‘Uthmaanees, or ‘Alawees. We are Muslims who submit to the commands of Allaah Azza wa Jal. Hence we do not worship except Allaah, and we do not follow except the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). We ascribe ourselves to Islaam. So the call that it is obligatory to follow only one scholar is misguidance and impermissible, and this is what took place amongst the latter generations of those who adhere to a madh-hab.

Should a Person be Obligated to take a Medical Checkup Before Marriage?

Filed under: General and Articles FREE Downloads at 1:23 pm (no comments)

ImageAnswered by Shaykh Mashhoor Hasan Salmaan

Question (nos. 233): Should a person be obliged to take a medical checkup before marriage?

‘Life was simple and honesty was the premise in the first generation. It was never their policy to hide and not disclose faults. This is why when the Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) asked to marry Umm Salamah, she said to the Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم), “Yaa Rasullullaah I am a woman prone to jealousy, I have dependents (children), I am old, and I cannot give birth.” Thus, she clearly stated her faults. Hence the Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said to her, “As for me, I am older than you. As for your jealousy, I will make du’aa to Allaah azza wa jal that He rids you of it, and as for the children, then (their care) is upon Allaah and His Messenger.”’

How the Callers to Allaah Should Respond to False Propaganda

Filed under: General at 2:17 pm (no comments)

ImageBy Shaykh Muqbil Ibn Haadee al-Waadi’ee

A brief word from the late Imaam of Yemen concerning how to handle the constantly spinning merry-go-round of doubts, rumours and propaganda at the hands of the those who attack the da’wah of ahlus-sunnah.

Thus, it is mandatory to expose falsehood and defend the da’wah whilst you are busy propagating the call –and all praise belongs to Allaah. However, we do not want ourselves to become preoccupied with refuting this person and that person as this is what they desire for us to do. We occupy ourselves with calling to Allaah and in the course of the sermons (khutab) or talks we refute those who are intent on hindering people from good.
