Subduing the Ash’aree Assault Against the Salafee ‘Aqeedah - Our brother, Abul-Hasan Maalik has replied to the arguments that have re-emerged during the recent
Ash’aree uprising in Philadelphia and their subsequent attacks upon the
Salafee ‘aqeedah. Since some of the local ignoramuses have regurgitated the arguments of their Imaams in misguidance Muhammad Zaahid al-Kawtharee, Muhammad ‘Alawee al-Maalikee and Nuh Ha Mim Keller.
Points of benefit to be gained from this lecture:
- Numerous examples of the Names and Attributes in the noble Qur`aan and the authentic Sunnah, along with statements from the Imaam of the Salaf explaining how these texts are to be interpreted and understood.
- Imaam Ibnul-Qayyim (d.751H) demonstrates the importance of referring all of the affairs of our Religion back to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, and that if the clarification for all the affairs in our Religion were not found in these two sources, then it is impossible that Allaah and His Messenger would have commanded us to do so.
- Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (d.728H) uses the the Ash’ariyyah’s own logic in affirming some of the Attributes of Allaah and rejecting the majority of them through ta’teel (denial) and tahreef (distortion) - or what they term ta`weel (figurative interpretation).
- Uncovering how the Ashaa`irah use methaphorical meanings for the Attributes of Allaah, in a manner that was unknown to the Arabs in the time of the Messenger of Allaah - up until the writings of Greek philosophy were translated into Arabic and adapted by some innovators into the perfect and complete Religion of Islaam.
- Affirmation of the fundamental principle of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa’ah about not delving into the modality, or ‘how’ the Attributes of Allaah are (i.e. takyeef).
- Clarification that the Ash’ariyyah of our time do not in reality have a conflict with the person of Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah or Imaam al-Albaanee, rather they seek to destroy the pure ‘aqeedah of Islaam itself - as it was understood by the Salaf of this Ummah and the early generations of Muslims.
