Shaykh al-’Uthaymeen on Working with the Islaamic Parties

Filed under: General at 4:30 pm (no comments)

Shaykh al-’Uthaymeen on Working with the Islaamic Parties - The noble Scholar, Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-’Uthaymeen is asked if it is from wisdom to work with the parties that ascribe themselves to Islaam in order to confront the Secularists and Communists, or is it from wisdom to not work with such Islaamic parties and completely abandon political work. Though the answer was given years ago, we find it highly appropriate in light of the recent calls to participate in the electoral process and to co-operate with the people of innovation!

Islaamic University Of Madeenah | And Its Lofty Goals

Filed under: General at 7:23 am (no comments)

The noble Scholar, al-’Allaamah Rabee’ Ibn Haadee al-Madkhalee said,

quote:

So the Islaamic University was established for lofty goals and for a noble objective.  And it is to educate whosoever is able to be admitted into it upon the Book of Allaah and upon the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah and upon the manhaj of the Salafus-Saalih.  And it was established under the supervision of outstanding Scholars from the major Scholars of the Sunnah from inside the Kingdom and outside of it.  And at the head of these outstanding personalities was Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Ibraaheem - rahimahullaah - the muftee of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Shaykh ‘Abdul-’Azeez Ibn Baaz - rahimahullaah.

And the first one who accepted leadership of it was al-’Allaamah, ash-Shaykh Ibn Baaz - rahimahullaah.  And people came to the University from all areas of the Islaamic world.  And I was from the first ones to be affiliated with it and I graduated from it and I taught there for years up until I was retired.

So its manhaj is a unique manhaj that is established upon the Book of Allaah and upon the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah.  And its objective, as I have already mentioned to you, is a noble objective.  It is to educate our Muslim sons upon the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger and the manhaj of the Salafus-Saalih, except that some of the people of innovation and hizbiyyah have infiltrated it.  So they have corrupted whosoever they were able to corrupt in the Islaamic Univeristy.  And I ask Allaah to grant success to those who are responsible for protecting this University from these ones who conspire to corrupt the students at this University and its graduates.

I encourage entering into the Islaamic University and I warn against these conspirators from the Ikhwaanul-Muslimeen and other than them because they receive the academic scholarships given to foreigners who come to the Islaamic University.  From the moment their feet touch al-Madeenah, they begin to warn against the Scholars of the Kingdom and against their manhaj and they corrupt whoever they are able to corrupt.  And whoever is saved from them is saved.

So I advise studying there, but I warn against these ones who cause corruption in the earth.  When the students reach them, from any country, from Ethiopia, or from Egypt or from any country, it is upon them to warn against these wicked and corrupt groups who oppose with their actions the objectives and goals of the Islaamic University, for which it was established.  And they have corrupted many.  And I spoke about this at the University, I said: Many of the students have come to this country while they are carrying corrupt beliefs.  And they study at the secondary and university levels and they may reach the higher studies.  Despite that, they return with their corrupt beliefs.  This is something that is currently happening, it is something that is known from the Indians who have bigoted partisanship towards the Hanafee madhhab and the Maatureedee madhhab.  And there have remained those who have remained - and the praise is for Allaah - those who either their origin was Salafee, or those who learned Salafiyyah from their studies in the Islaamic University and its rightly-guided manhaj.

I say once again and I repeat that the Islaamic University is a strong university and a strong fortress of Islaam.  And it is befitting that the students of knowledge to drink ‘aqeedah and manhaj from it.  And I advise and I warn  those who want to cause corruption in the earth to fear Allaah with regards to themselves and to not cause corruption in the earth after it has been rectified and to not cause corruption in this University.

So the Ummah of Islaam is not in need of anything as much as it is need of the manhaj of the Salaf, which is exemplified in the manhaj of this Islaamic University.  So it educates the youth with a correct tarbiyah upon the Book of Allaah and upon the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah and upon rejection of ta’assub (bigoted allegiance) and rejection of desires.  Rejection of ta’assub towards madhaahib and rejection of ta’assub towards ‘aqaa`id and manaahij.  The University educates one upon these foundations.

So whoever Allaah wants good for, then let him study in this University and let him graduate inshaa` Allaah with its ‘aqeedah and its manhaj, spreading the Sunnah and its sciences in his country.

I ask Allaah the Blessed and Exalted to grant success to those who are responsible for this University by protecting it from the plots of the plotters and to grant success to the students to accept the truth that is exemplified in the manaahij of this University, to accept the truth and to take it and to spread it in their countries or in other countries or wherever they dismount and disembark.  I ask Allaah to bring these hopes to reality.  Indeed, our Lord hears the du’aa`.

wa sallallaahu ‘alaa nabiyyinaa Muhammad wa ‘alaa aalihi wa sahbihi wa sallam

And this meeting occurred on the second day of the month of Safar, from the year 1428H.  And whosoever attributes to me other than this, then he has lied and slandered.

Groom aged 14 jilts bride of 12 years

Groom aged 14 jilts bride of 12 years

Scores of gypsy wedding guests fought each other with knives, swords and guns after the 14-year-old groom jilted his 12-year-old bride.

The clash in the Romanian village of Sinesti left 12 people hurt.

The legal age for marriage in Romania is 18, but the law allows Romanians to marry at 16 with parental consent.

The country generally tolerates arranged child weddings among gypsies whose ancient traditions call for the marriage of children once they reach puberty.

The fighting at Sinesti broke out initially between two families, apparently because the bride’s family was angry over cancellation of the wedding, police said. The fighting then spread to other village residents.

One man was detained and will appear in a Bucharest court charged with attempted murder and destroying property.

Four other people are being investigated for alleged attempted murder and 20 others are accused of causing a public disturbance.

In 2003, the 12-year-old daughter of a gypsy leader stormed out of her wedding ceremony sparking a national debate about forced marriages between gypsy adolescents, and leading to criticism from some European Union officials. Romania has since joined the EU.

Police said they will step up their presence in Sinesti, most of whose population are gypsies.

Romania officially has 500,000 gypsies although there are believed to be about twice that number. Many do not declare themselves due to widespread prejudice.

NEW AUDIO: The Unity of Ahlus-Sunnah in their Position Against Ahlul-Bid’ah

as salaam ‘alaykum

Lectures from the Recent Unity Conference in NJ:

Inshaa` Allaah, we will be presenting the lectures delivered at the recent Unity conference held at Masjidul-Bayaan, Asbury Park NJ.  The first lecture is presented by brother Aadam Lazarus, a recent graduate of the Islaamic University in al-Madeenah.

The Unity of Ahlus-Sunnah in their Position Against Ahlul-Bid’ah - Our brother, Aboo Ramlah Aadam Lazarus bases this reminder upon a lecture delivered by Shaykh Rabee’ Ibn Haadee entitled, “The Correct Position Against the People of Innovation.” The speaker first defines who are the people of Sunnah and who are the people of Bid’ah (innovation), then he speaks about some of the Salafee brothers who are negligent in dealing with the people of bid’ah and who are put off when topics of manhaj are discussed. Towards the end, the speaker brings more benefits from the speech of Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Haadee al-Madkhalee, such as the claim that refutation of the people of bid’ah must come from a Scholar only and other doubts.

Keep checking www.SunnahAudio.com for more lectures…

A Lesson for the Archbishop of Canterbury In The Story of Heraclius of Rome?

Filed under: General and World Religions at 6:50 am (no comments)

Heraclius, The Roman - Head of the Christians of Sham

Recently the Archbishop of Canterbury, the head of the Anglican Church, Dr Rowen Williams suggested that parts of Islamic Shar’iah law be recognised and incorporated into British law. Politicians and media alike immediately turned against him and launched a relentless attack upon him calling for his retraction, and even his resignation. It seems that Dr. Williams is not free to think, and not free to say what he feels in this land of free-speech and democracy. If a person like the Archbishop expresses something that goes against the perceived norms, he is harrassed, bullied, humiliated and forced out of office - he is made an example of, and a deterrent to others who maybe thinking of rocking the boat and challenge established doctrines. This is a good time for Chritians who are just-minded to ponder over Islam and its message that calls to the worship of the one and sole creator of the heavens and earth, Almighty God.

One of the disciples of the Prophet Muhammad, Abdullah bin Abbaas said:

Abu Sufyan bin Harb informed me that Heraclius had sent a messenger to him while he had been accompanying a caravan from Quraish. They were merchants doing business in Sham (Syria, Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan), at the time when Allah’s Apostle had truce with Abu Sufyan and Quraish infidels. So Abu Sufyan and his companions went to Heraclius at Ilya (Jerusalem). Heraclius called them in the court and he had all the senior Roman dignitaries around him. He called for his translator who, translating Heraclius’s question said to them, “Who amongst you is closely related to that man who claims to be a Prophet?” Abu Sufyan replied, “I am the nearest relative to him (amongst the group).”

Heraclius said, “Bring him (Abu Sufyan) close to me and make his companions stand behind him.” Abu Sufyan added, Heraclius told his translator to tell my companions that he wanted to put some questions to me regarding that man (The Prophet) and that if I told a lie they (my companions) should contradict me.” Abu Sufyan added, “By Allah! Had I not been afraid of my companions labeling me a liar, I would not have spoken the truth about the Prophet. The first question he asked me about him was:

‘What is his family status amongst you?’

I replied, ‘He belongs to a good (noble) family amongst us.’

Heraclius further asked, ‘Has anybody amongst you ever claimed the same (i.e. to be a Prophet) before him?’

I replied, ‘No.’

He said, ‘Was anybody amongst his ancestors a king?’

I replied, ‘No.’

Heraclius asked, ‘Do the nobles or the poor follow him?’

I replied, ‘It is the poor who follow him.’

He said, ‘Are his followers increasing decreasing (day by day)?’

I replied, ‘They are increasing.’

He then asked, ‘Does anybody amongst those who embrace his religion become displeased and renounce the religion afterwards?’

I replied, ‘No.’

Heraclius said, ‘Have you ever accused him of telling lies before his claim (to be a Prophet)?’

I replied, ‘No. ‘

Heraclius said, ‘Does he break his promises?’

I replied, ‘No. We are at truce with him but we do not know what he will do in it.’ I could not find opportunity to say anything against him except that.

Heraclius asked, ‘Have you ever had a war with him?’

I replied, ‘Yes.’

Then he said, ‘What was the outcome of the battles?’

I replied, ‘Sometimes he was victorious and sometimes we.’

Heraclius said, ‘What does he order you to do?’

I said, ‘He tells us to worship Allah and Allah alone and not to worship anything along with Him, and to renounce all that our ancestors had said. He orders us to pray, to speak the truth, to be chaste and to keep good relations with our Kith and kin.’

Heraclius asked the translator to convey to me the following, I asked you about his family and your reply was that he belonged to a very noble family. In fact all the Apostles come from noble families amongst their respective peoples. I questioned you whether anybody else amongst you claimed such a thing, your reply was in the negative. If the answer had been in the affirmative, I would have thought that this man was following the previous man’s statement. Then I asked you whether anyone of his ancestors was a king. Your reply was in the negative, and if it had been in the affirmative, I would have thought that this man wanted to take back his ancestral kingdom.

I further asked whether he was ever accused of telling lies before he said what he said, and your reply was in the negative. So I wondered how a person who does not tell a lie about others could ever tell a lie about Allah. I, then asked you whether the rich people followed him or the poor. You replied that it was the poor who followed him. And in fact all the Apostle have been followed by this very class of people. Then I asked you whether his followers were increasing or decreasing. You replied that they were increasing, and in fact this is the way of true faith, till it is complete in all respects. I further asked you whether there was anybody, who, after embracing his religion, became displeased and discarded his religion. Your reply was in the negative, and in fact this is (the sign of) true faith, when its delight enters the hearts and mixes with them completely. I asked you whether he had ever betrayed. You replied in the negative and likewise the Apostles never betray. Then I asked you what he ordered you to do. You replied that he ordered you to worship Allah and Allah alone and not to worship any thing along with Him and forbade you to worship idols and ordered you to pray, to speak the truth and to be chaste. If what you have said is true, he will very soon occupy this place underneath my feet and I knew it (from the scriptures) that he was going to appear but I did not know that he would be from you, and if I could reach him definitely, I would go immediately to meet him and if I were with him, I would certainly wash his feet.’ Heraclius then asked for the letter addressed by Allah’s Apostle which was delivered by Dihya to the Governor of Busra, who forwarded it to Heraclius to read. The contents of the letter were as follows: “In the name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful (This letter is) from Muhammad the slave of Allah and His Apostle to Heraclius the ruler of Byzantine. Peace be upon him, who follows the right path. Furthermore I invite you to Islam, and if you become a Muslim you will be safe, and Allah will double your reward, and if you reject this invitation of Islam you will be committing a sin by misguiding your Arisiyin (peasants). (And I recite to you Allah’s Statement:)

‘O people of the scripture! Come to a word common to you and us that we worship none but Allah and that we associate nothing in worship with Him, and that none of us shall take others as Lords beside Allah. Then, if they turn away, say: Bear witness that we are Muslims (those who have surrendered to Allah).’ (3:64).

Abu Sufyan then added, “When Heraclius had finished his speech and had read the letter, there was a great hue and cry in the Royal Court. So we were turned out of the court. I told my companions that the question of Ibn-Abi-Kabsha (refering to the Prophet Muhammad) has become so prominent that even the King of Bani Al-Asfar (Byzantine) is afraid of him. Then I started to become sure that he (the Prophet) would be the conqueror in the near future till I embraced Islam (i.e. Allah guided me to it).”

The sub narrator adds, “Ibn An-Natur was the Governor of llya’ (Jerusalem) and Heraclius was the head of the Christians of Sham. Ibn An-Natur narrates that once while Heraclius was visiting ilya’ (Jerusalem), he got up in the morning with a sad mood. Some of his priests asked him why he was in that mood? Heraclius was a foreteller and an astrologer. He replied, ‘At night when I looked at the stars, I saw that the leader of those who practice circumcision had appeared (become the conqueror). Who are they who practice circumcision?’ The people replied, ‘Except the Jews nobody practices circumcision, so you should not be afraid of them (Jews).

‘Just Issue orders to kill every Jew present in the country.’

While they were discussing it, a messenger sent by the king of Ghassan to convey the news of Allah’s Apostle to Heraclius was brought in. Having heard the news, he (Heraclius) ordered the people to go and see whether the messenger of Ghassan was circumcised. The people, after seeing him, told Heraclius that he was circumcised. Heraclius then asked him about the Arabs. The messenger replied, ‘Arabs also practice circumcision.’

(After hearing that) Heraclius remarked that sovereignty of the ‘Arabs had appeared. Heraclius then wrote a letter to his friend in rome who was as good as Heraclius in knowledge. Heraclius then left for Homs. (a town in Syrian and stayed there till he received the reply of his letter from his friend who agreed with him in his opinion about the emergence of the Prophet and the fact that he was a Prophet. On that Heraclius invited all the heads of the Byzantines to assemble in his palace at Homs. When they assembled, he ordered that all the doors of his palace be closed. Then he came out and said, ‘O Byzantines! If success is your desire and if you seek right guidance and want your empire to remain then give a pledge of allegiance to this Prophet (i.e. embrace Islam).’

(On hearing the views of Heraclius) the people ran towards the gates of the palace like onagers but found the doors closed. Heraclius realized their hatred towards Islam and when he lost the hope of their embracing Islam, he ordered that they should be brought back in audience.

(When they returned) he said, ‘What already said was just to test the strength of your conviction and I have seen it.’ The people prostrated before him and became pleased with him, and this was the end of Heraclius’s story (in connection with his faith).
